These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Clavis mobile application, the website at clavisapp.com, and any related services (together, the "Service"), provided by Clavis ("we", "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you must have a parent or legal guardian's consent. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements.
You're responsible for the activity that happens under your account, for keeping your login credentials safe, and for the accuracy of the information you provide. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
Clavis is offered as an auto-renewing subscription, sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. Two plans are currently available:

The Yearly plan includes a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your Apple ID will be charged the full yearly price and your subscription begins. If you've previously used a Clavis trial, you are not eligible for another. Cancel from Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone.
You can cancel anytime in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep access until then. Deleting the Clavis app does not cancel your subscription.
All purchases are made through Apple. Refund requests are handled by Apple under their standard refund policy at reportaproblem.apple.com. Clavis cannot directly issue App Store refunds.
You agree not to:
You retain ownership of the notes, files, and other material you upload ("Your Content"). You grant Clavis a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to process Your Content solely to operate the Service — i.e. to generate lessons and quizzes for you. We don't use Your Content to train models or for any other purpose. See the Privacy Policy for details.
You're responsible for what you upload. Don't upload anything you don't have the right to upload.
The Clavis app, the Clavis brand, the website, and all software, designs, and content we provide (other than Your Content) are owned by Clavis and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the Service while these Terms are in effect.
Clavis is an aid for studying — it does not replace coursework, instruction, or professional judgment. AI-generated lessons and quizzes may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. Verify anything important against your primary source material.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output will meet your expectations.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Clavis and its officers, employees, and agents are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost grades, lost study time, lost data, or app-block circumvention by third parties — arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD $50.
You can stop using the Service at any time by canceling your subscription and deleting the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination, the rights granted to you end and we may delete your data per the Privacy Policy.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts of Delaware, and you and Clavis consent to that jurisdiction. If you live in a place that gives you a non-waivable right to bring claims locally, this clause doesn't override that.
Apple's role. If you obtained the app from the Apple App Store, Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Any claim that the app fails to conform to applicable warranties may be referred to Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any).
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date and notify you in the app. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
